Red KiK-lock

The TOOOL KiK-lock is an aluminum body padlock that accepts nearly any standard Key-in-Knob or Key-in-Lever type lock cylinder. This padlock allows you to hold the most common type of lock cylinder in North America for easy and more accessible picking, as well as a very satisfying “clunk” when an open has been achieved.

Note that this padlock does not come with a cylinder by default. Single KiK cylinders are available under the Product dropdown menu, though supplies of these are limited.

This padlock has been tested and proven compatible with dozens of KiK and KiL cylinders from many different manufacturers, including all of the progressive basic and advanced cylinders that we offer. It features a shackle that measures 1/4″ thick and 1.5″ length. It also contains an integral tailpiece, requiring no tailpiece to be added to a cylinder. This lock is configured by default with the integral tailpiece for the Schlage-style screw-on cylinder cap with retaining pin, but we also offer the slot-style tailpiece separately. The slot-style tailpiece is not necessary for most people, it is merely offered for completeness.

While this padlock can accept an extraordinarily wide range of lock cylinders from different manufacturers of different security levels, this padlock should not be considered a high-security locking device. The body is made of aluminum, and the shackle is only ¼” thick. The primary intent of this lock is to improve the experience of picking KiK and KiL cylinders, as they can be challenging to hold in hand while picking, and bringing a vice everywhere is not always practical. And there’s not much that rivals the satisfaction of having a padlock “thunk” open once you’ve gotten through a particularly difficult lock cylinder.
